The Different Levels In Linux TrainingThere are four levels in Linux training that impart professional training about Linux in general and system administration. All the four levels involve five-day courses. These levels include: Linux use and administration, training in Linux system administration, system security and kernel management and server administration. A detail outline on all these levels is given below: Linux Use And Administration Introduction- Level 1 Herein, students get themselves acquainted with the knowledge to use Linux both as an entry level system administrator and as an end user. In this five day training, students learn basic commands of Linux. They learn how to use line utilities to navigate the file system and manipulate them. This course provides an overview of the available Linux GUI front ends. System administration topics like installation and configuration and job control are covered before the initialization of basic tasks of booting the system, managing users and installing packages. The objective of this five-day training course is to explain about the Linux, its use and configuration. It talks about how the basic file system performs the task of installation of Linux distribution. It also includes how to edit files, install, upgrade and uninstall software with RPM. Maintaining group, user and system accounts are also a part of the first level of the Linux training program. Linux operating system administration- Level 2 In the second level training program, students acquire the skill of performing system administrator function relating to the administration of the file system. It includes, mounting and un-mounting, partition management, disk quotas, disk diagnostics, LVM, RAID and NFS disk types. The objective of this training program in the second level is to help students in knowing about the organizational structure of ext 2 and ext 3 file system, how to use RAID to provide redundancy across disks in an array and the configuration of the X window system components. System security and Kernel management- Level 3 Level three in its five-day program imparts student with the knowledge on how to perform system administration tasks relating to system security and kernel management. The topics in this level include the kernel rebuilds, proc file system, backups and log file maintenance. The course deals in security issues including physical security of the console and host, network and software security and firewall security and user and system account. The course finishes with entrance detection techniques. The objective of the course is to help the students know about how to manage log rotation and file sizes, configure PAM, choose and rebuild a kernel and how to use appropriate kernel settings. Linux network service administration- Level 4 This level in its five-day course helps experienced Linux administrators more than others. This level helps them in developing advanced skills in managing and configuring a secure Linux network server. Students gain hands-on experience in this level about running and configuring essential network services. It includes NIS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP, SSH and LDAP. The objective of this course is to acquaint the students about important Linux security components like SELinux, cryptography, kerberos and network security. |
